The city of Chicago held its first Latino Fashion Week in October 2007 and was recognized by media and industry as the first U.S. city to host and celebrate Latino fashion within a dedicated week of events. New opportunities and greater recognition have helped to catapult Chicago Latino designers to receive awards and contracts with major retailers.
“We have great expectations of our second installment of Chicago Latino Fashion Week and have planned an incredible week of events for Chicago’s fashionistas to enjoy! Since 2007, our featured designers have seen incredible success and have grown to open their own showrooms, be featured in International fashion shows and be featured inside major retailers like Macy’s,” said Cesar Rolón, Jr., Executive Producer of Chicago Latino Fashion Week. “We started with a simple mission: to help open the doors for Latino Designers. We have seen great strides in the past year and look forward to expanding the show and opportunities for our designers even further.”
Latino and Caribbean designers continue to assert themselves in defining and influencing the world of fashion. This seven-day celebration will include fashion shows by some of the rising and established stars of Chicago, as well as national and international Latino designers, educational seminars, retail trunk shows, celebrity appearances and VIP parties at some of Chicago’s hottest venues – all tied to the Latino Glam and Old Hollywood style theme.
